Going to miming game

Live Wire 2 Units 1 to 15

Choose one of the lines below and act out preparing to do that thing until your partner guesses what the future action is going to be. To make “going to” the right tense, don’t actually start doing the thing below (which would be “You are cooking…” etc).

  • You are going to cook a meal.
  • You are going to drive.
  • You are going to fish.
  • You are going to get dressed./ You are going to put on your clothes.
  • You are going to have a bath.
  • You are going to have a shower.
  • You are going to kick a ball./ You are going to take a penalty./ You are going to play football./ You are going to play soccer.
  • You are going to lift weights./ You are going to do weight training.
  • You are going to listen to a CD.
  • You are going to paint./ You are going to paint a picture.
  • You are going to play computer games./ You are going to play a video game.
  • You are going to play tennis.
  • You are going to play the guitar.
  • You are going to play the violin.
  • You are going to run./ You are going to sprint.
  • You are going to scuba dive.
  • You are going to skateboard.
  • You are going to sleep./ You are going to go to sleep.
  • You are going to study./ You are going to do homework.
  • You are going to swim.
  • You are going to take the dog for a walk.
  • You are going to the drums./ You are going to play drums.
  • You are going to watch a movie./ You are going to watch a movie in the cinema.
  • You are going to write a letter.

Ask about any you don’t understand, miming things before that action each time to show that you understand the explanation.

Ask two “going to” questions about your partner’s plans like those above for each of the times below. You get one point for each “Yes, I am” answer.

  • later today
  • tomorrow
  • at the weekend
  • next week
  • someday
