Make a Xmas story Simple Past practice

Teacher’s instructions

Cut up one pack of cards per group of two to four students or one blown up pack for the whole class. Students take turns continuing a story starting “Last Xmas, John…”. They should use several words in one sentence if they can. They get to keep whatever words they have used, and the winner is the person with most cards at the end of the game.

You can then do something similar with a Xmas video such as Pingu’s First Xmas. Students watch a short Xmas video or extracts from a longer one and make statements about what happens. They must use a different verb each time. The person with most points at the end of the video wins.
