IELTS Speaking Part Two Describing People

Student A

Read through the script and the task below and make sure you understand them properly. Don’t start speaking until you have read and understood everything!

 

Read out the script below, then hand the topic sheet to your partner (you do not need to read out the presentation topic sheet).

“I’m now going to give a topic and I’d like you to talk about it for one or two minutes. Before you talk, you have one minute to think about what you are going to say. You can make notes if you wish. Do you understand? Here’s some pen and paper, and here is your presentation sheet.”

After one minute, say “Okay? Please start your presentation”

If they stop speaking after less than one minute, just pause and wait for them to continue. If they stop after one minute, ask them one or two questions about what they said or anything else you’d like to know about the topic they are speaking about. If they haven’t stop speaking after two minutes, interrupt them and ask them the extra questions.

Describe a member of your family. You should say

  • Who they are like
  • What they are like
  • What they like

And say if you think they are similar to you or not and why

“Next I’m going to give you a topic and I’d like you to speak about it for one or two minutes. Before you talk, you have one minute you think about what you are going to say. You can make notes to help you if you like, but please don’t write on the topic sheet. Okay? Here is some blank paper, and here is your topic sheet.”

After one minute, say “Okay? Please start your speaking”

If they stop speaking after less than one minute, just pause and wait for them to continue. If they stop after one minute, ask them one or two questions about what they said or anything else you’d like to know about the topic they are speaking about. Talk about someone you respect. Things you should include in your presentation:

  • Their appearance
  • Their personality
  • Why you respect them

And say how much you think you are or could be like that person
